Barcelona midfielder Pedri, 21, has sparked a ruckus from former boss Xavi Hernandez after he suggested Hansi Flick’s side were better at managing their players’ fitness.

Former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez’s agent has spoken out on Cat Radio on Friday about his displeasure with an interview in which Pedro Gonzalez Lopez Pedri suggested training under Hansi Flick has been more beneficial for the player.

Flick has brought a number of changes to the Blaugrana, particularly in terms of tactics and physical preparation, which have allowed the Barca players to endure the 90 minutes without the sluggishness that they once had.

‘We are giving more to the club than ever before. I think the new physical trainer has really helped us,’ Pedri said earlier. ‘We worked really hard and it showed in our performance. The team didn’t slow down from 70 or 80 minutes, we kept our physical strength. ‘

However, Xavi’s representatives have spoken to Promotion Ufabet Catalan radio station Cat Radio to express their dissatisfaction with the incident, particularly Pedri’s interview, in which they believe the club are behind the open criticism of the 44-year-old’s handling and fitness of the players.

While Xavi’s side suffered from a number of injuries, Flick’s side also had their own problems, with both Firmin Lopez and Marc Bernal both out injured in the first months of the season.
